"We do not see things as they are. We see them as we are."
~ The Talmud

My photographs are portraits of people who are around me. I like taking pictures of people who would be themselves in front of my camera. I am interested in capturing emotional facets of different people. Human facial expression which shows emotions of people is one of my favorite subject for photography. Instead of showing just facial expressions, I like creating unique images from disparate elements. Although every object has its own beauty and power, I have found that using multiple layers is more exciting to me rather than taking pictures and printing them as they are. I manipulate both negatives and prints to express complicated human emotions, such as anger, fear, worry, jealously, sorrow, and joy. I also use metaphorical modes to create my own visual world. My purpose of photography is not only to express the personal and the archetypes of emotion, but also to challenge myself. I always keep an open mind to approach different kinds of experiments to create my own reality that people are not familiar with. My work subverts to traditions of photography, pushing the boundaries by applying different media, such as painting, drawing, printmaking, and digital video. To me, photography is one of viable tools of expressing psychological interpretation of people rather than simply recording presence.
